This is Vice by Michael Dandley, and is Enamel on pen and panel. The abstractness of this piece is what really stood out to me, I like how at first glance the viewer has little to no idea what is going on. I found his website to try to get more information on this piece only to see that he has a whole collection of pieces such as this. He gave a brief description as to what these are, they are his paintings of "portraying strangers, their stories, and what I have learned about them in their oration." So essentially it is how he views people after hearing about them/watching them. He has many pieces in his collection that are equal in there abstractness, although this one stood out to me because I simply like how the dog head is fitted on to the body. It certainly isn't easy to get the scaling down etc but he managed to do a great job, almost to the point where it looks like it is supposed to be on that body. |
