In this piece I like how Marina Abramović is using gold leaf
to represent the fragility of human life.
I also think it is cool just to see a person covered in gold leaf. The main
reason why I picked this video is because of her reference to Picasso. She mentions how he was once asked what his
paintings mean. He responded by asking “Do
you know what the birds are singing? You don’t, but you listen to them anyway.” She makes a point that sometimes it is
important to look at art even if you don’t understand it. I think it is especially relevant to her
artwork because it is a concept not everyone comprehends.
