Golf Sale

Banksy is a pseudo name of a United Kingdom-based graffiti artist; he is most well know for his satirical street art which combine dark humor with political and cultural themes. Banksy uses a distinctive stenciling technique and most of his work is displayed in the open. His works of political and social satire have been featured on streets, walls, and bridges of cities throughout the world. Banksy is most famously know for his contempt for government and authority figures. I chose this piece because of the obscure nature of the image and the also the artist’s attempt to satirize the Tienanmen Square massacre. One of the most famous depictions of that event was the image of a unknown man blocking the path of oncoming tanks. The piece is distinct and the satirical nature of the work is evident at first glance.
